    • Doubles as a chess/checkers table
    • Made from quality materials
    • Super good looking

CONS

  • Does not come with any accessories
  • You need to lift off the chess board to play backgammon (although that is the case with most tables)

VERDICT

The table looks great, it's practical for a challenging game of backgammon amongst more serious players and will be a point of interest in your home.

Here’s another quality backgammon table manufactured in Italy. Intended as a chess table, the chess board lifts off to expose the beautiful felted backgammon table. The table is manufactured from beechwood and the game board is inlaid briar elm wood – nice quality there.

Playing backgammon on a felt board is, well, nice. It gives some sort of eloquence to the game – makes you feel like you’re playing class. It also helps to soften the sound of a game that can get somewhat noisey when the game is on a roll.

The Italfama Chess and Backgammon Table has the feature that I look for in a table – raised sides! Yes. Backgammon is a fast game and in the excitement the dice tends to get rolled very quickly (hard) – keeping the dice contained on the table is a must for a fast paced game! Love it.

Some research of the Italian company Italfama on the internet reveals some of the quality furniture they make. They do seem to be a quality company.

The playing platform is around 23.2 inches by 23.2 inches square with a height of 26 inches. For the chess/checker plays the squares are 2.4 inches by 2.4 inches.

Unfortunately, this unit is not supplied with any playing pieces or accessories. You’ll need to purchase those separately.

If this style suits your design, then this table is one you cannot go past.
